No More Lies

I made many myth-stakes in my life.

I believed I had to stay quiet to keep the peace. I believed being strong meant handling everything by myself. I believed love meant tolerating too much.

I also had to deconstruct a lot of fantasies, old stories, and beliefs that I had accepted as truth.

Some came from childhood. Some came from relationships. Some came from the media. Some came from teachings that tried to put God in one box. Some came from schools that left out too much of the truth about my culture and history. And some came from what I was taught a “good woman” was supposed to be.

I had to start asking questions.

Is this really true?

Do I still believe this?

Is this helping me grow, or keeping me small?

And yes, some of my questions made people around me uncomfortable. That was part of my growth too. I had to learn that someone else’s discomfort did not mean I was wrong for asking.

Healing began when I questioned what I had been taught, found my voice, and stopped suffering in silence.

Some of the hardest things to unlearn are the things we once believed were normal.

Growth gave me permission to see clearly, think for myself, and choose differently.

And I am still learning.
