Prayers for the Fires

In a world that feels like it’s shifting under our feet—with changes in the news, politics, economy, and even the weather—it’s easy to feel unsettled. Yes, things may look uncertain. The headlines may cause your spirit to feel heavy. But don’t let fear have the final word.

Your peace does not come from the world—it comes from within. It comes from knowing that no matter what is happening outside, you are surrounded by a shield of grace. You are anchored in faith.

When the news gets overwhelming, step away and connect with the stillness of your soul. When fear whispers that the world is out of control, declare with boldness, “God is still in control, and I am covered.”

Thank you to everyone who has checked on me here in southern California about our horrific fires and fierce winds. We are so grateful our home and family are safe. We are only experiencing very intense winds, fallen trees, and intermittent power outages. Unfortunately, I have heard from friends who have had to evacuate their homes, or their homes or workplace burned down. Yes, some tragedies in life can leave us feeling speechless, overwhelmed, and unsure of how to process the depth of our emotions. When faced with such loss or hardship, words often seem insufficient to express the pain, confusion, or grief that we experience. During these times, it's important to allow ourselves the space to mourn and reflect, even if we can't find the right words. It's okay to not have all the answers or the right words during times of tragedy. When life feels out of control, focusing on small, manageable things, gratitude, reaching out to others, and prayer can give us a sense of grounding.

Lord...We come to You with hearts heavy for those whose lives have been forever changed by the devastating fires. Lord, we lift up every person, family, and community impacted by this tragedy. Comfort those who have lost their homes, businesses, and memories built over years of hard work and love. Help us release the tension in our hearts and the worry in our minds. Let Your peace flow over us extinguishing our fears.

We pray for the protection and safety of those affected. Guide the hands of the brave souls fighting the fires and comfort those who are displaced. Give us courage to stand in faith and compassion to uplift others in need.

Lord, remind us to breathe deeply in Your presence, to trust Your promises, and to believe that even in this storm, You are working for good. Help us to focus on hope, not fear, and to remember that You are the ultimate healer and provider.

We ask for Your provision, open doors for shelter, resources, and support. Raise up compassionate hearts to offer help and hope. Strengthen those who are grieving, and let them feel Your presence guiding them through each moment.

We also pray for the communities that must rebuild. Restore what has been lost, Lord, not just in property, but in spirit and faith. Bring resilience, unity, and new opportunities to rise from the ashes.

Protect and strengthen the firefighters, first responders, and volunteers working tirelessly to save lives and land. Bless their efforts and keep them safe.

Lord, may Your love shine in the darkness, and may Your hand of restoration bring healing to every broken heart, family, and community.
