In the school of life or what I refer to as "The University of Adversity", we can learn valuable life lessons or we repeat lessons. If we study and pay attention, we become wiser, stronger, more compassionate, flexible, creative, and resilient. By exercising your faith in God, you will discover you are not alone in any adversity. We learn to see blessings when we just don't "go" through our problems but "grow" through them. We are all students at "The University of Adversity." Our honesty is tested. Our loyalty is tested. Our faith is tested. Our patience is tested. Our character is tested. Our love is tested. Our leadership and parenting are tested. Our marriages are tested. Our promises and commitments are tested. Our compassion for others is tested. Our self-control is tested. Our ability to let go and move forward is being tested. Our ability to forgive is being tested. Our self-esteem is tested. Our trust in God is tested.
You may be going through a test right now and thinking God is silent and forsaking you. You feel that God is quiet and watching to see if we are prepared and ready. The silence may be frightening (i.e. what will I do?...help me God...I don't know the answer!). Scripture reminds us, "Be still and know that I AM God."
I think we give up too soon when are going through a test of our faith. Our mind plays tricks on us. We think we are all alone and that God does not care or that God is taking too long to help us figure out our mess and our problems. God is within you and around you. Don't give up. Pass your test of endurance, faith, and temptation. I teach my life coaching/counseling clients... "When you encounter adversity, you leave one version of yourself, travel through uncertainty, and return stronger, clearer, and more wiser. Your journey may include grief, disappointment, temptation, and delay, but none of it has to be wasted." - Jewel Diamond Taylor, 2015
