Don't Believe Everything You Think by Joseph Nguyen is great book message to remind you of a simple truth... just because a thought pops up in your mind doesn’t make it real. We have all kinds of thoughts every day—some are happy, some are downright gloomy. Remember, thoughts are just thoughts. They don’t define who you are unless you let them. Nguyen calls it the trap of overthinking. It’s when you start believing every little thing your mind says, especially the hurtful stuff. But here’s the key: you don’t have to get wrapped up in every thought that shows up. Just like scrolling through social media, you don’t have to engage with every single post, right? The same goes for your thoughts.
Sometimes we just get so tangled up in overthinking. You don’t have to react to every single one. It’s about learning to watch your thoughts without letting them run your life. Practice noticing them, choosing which ones to believe, and letting the rest go. It’s not instant, but it’s worth it. You have the power to choose uplifting inner self-talk, focus, faith, confidence, and calmness.
A classic example of an overthinker in the Bible is Martha in the Gospel of Luke. When Jesus visited her home, Martha became consumed with preparing and serving, constantly worrying about all the details, while her sister Mary simply sat at Jesus’ feet, listening to Him. Martha’s overthinking led her to become frustrated and even ask Jesus to make Mary help her.
In response, Jesus gently said, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:41-42, NIV). Jesus was essentially saying that Martha’s overthinking and busyness were keeping her from what truly mattered—being present and focused on His teaching.
As of today, 24 ladies have registered to join me on a wonderful Women on the Grow cruise to Cabo San Lucas, July 18 - Jully 23, 2025. All are invited to join us. Remember to text our Travel Sr. Advisor Darlean McClure 559-827-9013 using WhatsApp "I am sold out of forward and aft balconies. I have 12 mid ship balconies left, a few ocean views, and inside cabins. I can book outside the group and move them into the group, but the price has gone up because the ship is filling up fast. They will still be able to take advantage of the group amenities. I can accept texts while in Africa and WhatsApp calls only. We are 12 hours ahead of US. They have to download WhatsApp in order for me to call them back. I will be back in U.S. November 15. You can share that we still have cabins available at a discounted group rate, but time is of the essence." - Darlean McClure, Women on the Grow Sr. Travel Advisor
