WINsday Inspiration

Updated: 11 hours ago

Imposter syndrome is when you succeed and then immediately start questioning yourself.

You did the work. Got the result. And still think...“They are about to figure out I do not belong.”

That is the lie. Imposter Syndrome. Let’s Call It What It Is. A Lie With Good Makeup.

Imposter syndrome is that voice that shows up right after you do something well and says...“Yeah but don’t get comfortable.”

You just preached. Booked the client. Got the promotion. Wrote your book. Started your ministry. Started a new love relationship. Received a gift, recognition, or compliment. Bought your home or car. Made that sale. Hit the goal. And instead of celebrating, you start looking around like...“Who let me in here and when are they gonna find out?” That is imposter syndrome.

You overprepare for things you already know how to do. Like studying for a test you wrote.

You downplay compliments.“Oh this old thing?” Meanwhile you worked three weeks on it and skipped dessert. You feel guilty charging for your gift. You will bake a cake for free but feel funny sending an invoice.

You compare yourself to people who are ten chapters ahead. Then beat yourself up for not being on their page. You think success was luck.

How to Shut It Down

Name it. That is imposter syndrome. Not truth. Keep receipts of your wins. Read them when doubt shows up. Stop moving the finish line. You already earned your seat. Feel worthy of love again. Feel worthy of that new opportunity. Feel worthy of recovering from the past and reinventing yourself. Feel worthy of the invitation or compliment. Start saying, "Thank you" without apology, shame, explanation, or hesitation.

You are not faking. You are growing in public. You are a child of God. Use your spiritual authority. And that takes courage. Doubt does not get the mic today. - Jewel Diamond Taylor

This video is an excerpt from my recent Sunday Flow experience which happened on my birthday.

The next Sunday Flow will be Sunday, February 15, 3:00 PM in Los Angeles.

Thank you to all of my 100+ guests; family, friends, my tribe, and new faces.

I am still floating and full of gratitude for the love, gifts, fun, food, fellowship, and my incredible Dream Team.

I do not own the rights to this music!

Starting tomorrow you can call 323.964.1736 to hear my thought for the day.
