WINsday Inspiration

Not every smiling woman is at peace. Some are surviving behind makeup, caregiving, busyness, achievements, church titles, job titles, relationships, or social media posts. I have learned for myself... and others that healing often begins when people stop pretending.

I am surrounded by a lot of female energy, testimories, and personal stories of faith, heartbreak, courage, resiliency, intelligence, creativity, success, setbacks, breakthroughs, past traumas, betrayal, abuse, sickness, disappointments, joy, pain, hopes, secrets, and dreams. I have two sisters, Goddaughters, nieces, aunties, female cousins, many sisterfriends, and hundreds of female coaching and counseling clients over the years, I have learned something important…

Women are layered. A woman can be loving and wounded. Successful and insecure. Compassionate and exhausted. Loyal and struggling. Nurturing and overwhelmed. Strong and broken at the same time. Human beings are complex..especially women carrying responsibilities, relationships, disappointments, caregiving, pressure, and unhealed pain while still trying to show up for everybody else.

Sometimes the pressure to “hold it all together” becomes the very thing keeping women emotionally trapped. Many women are rewarded for performance while privately carrying stress, secrecy, loneliness, exhaustion, resentment, grief, or unresolved pain. Not every smiling woman is truly at peace. She wears many masks. Some women, even myself at times, have become so skilled at performing strength that nobody notices they are struggling. A smile does not always mean someone is healed. Sometimes it simply means they have learned how to survive while hurting quietly.

After years of coaching women, I have also learned this: many people do not need another lecture, performance, or polished answer.

They need a safe place to tell the truth without shame. - Jewel Diamond Taylor, Life Coach and author of the book "The 12 Faces of Eve"
