4) You Are Safe Now: Healing the Inner Child video

Have you ever caught yourself saying: "Lord, this is NOT how I thought my life would turn out. I thought I'd have less stress, more money, move love, lost weight, retired, fewer doctor's appointments, my loved one would still be here, didn't expect to be caregiving and postponing your life...and honestly, I thought some

people would've gotten themselves together by now."

Life has a way of humbling our plans and stretching our faith. But when life doesn't match our expectations, we have a choice. Here are 3 mindsets that have helped me.

1. Acceptance is not giving up. It's facing the truth. I had to stop comparing my reality to my programmed fantasies, plans, and expectations. Life rarely follows our script. Acceptance does not mean you like it. It does not mean you approve of it. It does not mean you stop praying, believing, growing, or working toward change. It simply means you stop arguing with what already is.

2. Constant complaining, nursing, cursing, and rehearsing the past keeps us emotionally stuck. We all need to vent sometimes. But there is a difference between expressing pain and building a life around victimhood and pity parties. Some of us have replayed an old hurt so many times, we know it better than our favorite movie. But constant complaining, nursing, cursing, and rehearsing the past keeps us emotionally parked. You can't drive into your future while staring in the rearview mirror. God gave you a windshield for a reason. Healing is not pretending it didn't happen. Healing is refusing to let what happened have the final word. "Do everything without grumbling or arguing." Phil 2:14 Sometimes peace begins when we stop narrating everything that's wrong.

3. Many people postpone joy. "I'll be happy when..." When the weight comes off. When the money comes. When the relationship improves. When the pain leaves.

But life keeps on lif-ing. Joy and gratitude are a spiritual practice. This practice helps you to stop wasting energy fighting reality and begin using that energy to move forward. Reality wins. Listening to music like Frankie Beverly and Maze singing "joy and pain are like sunshine and rain, love can be bitter and sometimes, the ones you care for can bring so much pain"...always reminds me to flow when life is lif-ing. The sooner we accept what is, the sooner we can decide what do next. "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24 Notice the scripture does not say, "Only on good days."

When we stop saying, "This shouldn't have happened," and start asking, "Now that it has happened, who do I want to become?" That question shifts us from powerless to powerful,

from resistance to resilience, from frustration to faith, from surviving to living.

I've heard so many times, "Only the strong survive." But I truly believe, "Only the one who knows how to adapt wins." May you grow in your ability to meet life with courage, wisdom, grace, and trust in God.

The heart behind Women on the Grow is being an outreach ministry offering hope, programs, emergency funds, and practical support to women navigating life's unexpected challenges. Maybe you were a single mother trying to do it all, navigating breast cancer, grieving, caregiving, or facing an unexpected setback. And maybe someone reached out with kindness, encouragement, resources, or simply the gift of being present. Those moments matter. They remind us that none of us are meant to carry life's burdens alone.

If this mission speaks to you because it reflects part of your own journey or testimony, we invite you to become a one-time or monthly donor. Your kindness helps us extend compassion, provide resources, and walk alongside women who need to know that even in difficult seasons, there is still hope, healing, and restoration ahead.
