One of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn as a grown woman is the relentless call to keep pressing forward, even when my heart feels shattered, my mind is overwhelmed, and my spirit feels like it’s unraveling. This lesson is raw, universal, and profoundly personal. Life doesn’t stop to catch its breath when we’re hurting. It doesn’t pause when we’re carrying heavy burdens or crying out for relief. Life keeps moving—unyielding, unapologetic—demanding that we keep moving too.

There’s no “pause” button, no timeout to mend what’s broken inside. The world doesn’t wait for us to gather ourselves, and that truth can be one of the most overwhelming realities of adulthood. What makes it even harder is that no one truly prepares us for this. As children, we are nurtured by stories of happy endings, tales where everything magically works out. But adulthood has a way of stripping away those illusions and teaching us that survival is rarely glamorous.

Shift happens in life and survival is showing up when you feel like hiding. It’s putting one foot in front of the other when your heart is begging you to stop. It’s wearing the mask of strength when inside, you’re holding yourself together with fragile threads of hope. But here’s the miracle: we endure.

Even in the depths of pain, we find reserves of courage we didn’t know we had. We learn to be our own sanctuary, to give ourselves the compassion we so desperately need, and to speak words of life into our own spirits when no one else is there to do it. Resilience isn’t about big, bold moments. It’s about quiet defiance—a determination to rise, even when the weight of the world is trying to pull us down.

Yes, resilience is messy. Yes, it’s exhausting. And there are days when it feels like the next step is just too much. But even then, we push forward. And each step, no matter how small, is a testament to our strength—a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we are still here, still fighting, still refusing to give up. Don't let the hard days win." Jewel Diamond Taylor, author of the book "ShiFt Happens".

As of today, 12 families have received $500 each for emergency funds after losing their homes in the tragic fires in Altadena from my Women on the Grow, Inc. 501c3 non-profit outreach organization I founded in 2019. Because of our donors (aka sister $owers) our outreach with emergency funds has made a compassionate and effective impact on the lives of single mothers, the elderly, and families that are displaced, traumatized, and weary. More than 12,000 homes, businesses, schools, and other structures have been destroyed by raging wildfires that began ripping through the Greater Los Angeles area last Tuesday. More than 100,000 have been forced to flee their homes If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation of any amount which will go directly to the hurting families, go to www.WomenOnTheGrow.org or Zelle Jewel Taylor (Jewelmotivates@gmail.com)
