WINsday Inspiration

Before you beat yourself up for procrastinating, overthinking, or playing small, hold up a second. I study the brain a lot and learned our brain is wired for survival, not success. It is built like an old school Dad or Mom with a belt saying... “Nope. Stay right here where I can see you. Don’t try nothing new. You might fall. You might hurt yourself."

Your brain will choose what's familiar every time. Even if the familiar is stressing you out. That is the survival wiring talking. Not your purpose. So if you freeze, procrastinate, or talk yourself out of good things... that’s not weakness. You are NOT crazy or lazy. That’s your brain trying to keep you safe. If you find yourself overthinking too much, it leads to paralysis of analysis. Your brain’s first job is survival. It loves what feels familiar and safe. You could find yourself; not showing up for invitations, losing opportunities, not signing the paperwork, isolating, feeling depressed, not completing your book, project, or that application, destroying relationships, or avoiding new relationships. New things feel risky even when they are good for you. Your brain treats emotional risk the same way it treats physical danger because past painful experiences are stored strongly in your brain.

But here is the good news. Your brain can learn new tricks. Science calls it neuroplasticity. Faith calls it being transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2). Both work when you use intention, practice, and repetition. You can teach your brain that growth will not kill you. It can actually bless you. This is the shadow work I guide women through in my DiaMIND one-on-one life coaching sessions by phone, FACETIME, or Zoom. Reliability is love that shows up even when nobody is watching to post it. I want to honor three women whose loyalty, generosity, and steady presence have made a lasting impact on my life (each over 20 years) and with my Women on the Grow, 501c3 outreach efforts. They didn’t show up for credit. It’s just who they are. And their longevity, support, and sisterhood deserve to be seen and celebrated. Your presence will be appreciated.

I’ve connected with so many beautiful women in Los Angeles and surrounding areas, but I live in Rancho Cucamonga for over 20 years. I’d love to start building more sisterhood right here in our area.

It’s so easy to drift into isolation, but community is essential for our social health and peace of mind.

I’m hosting my Sisterhood Lunch Fellowship No. 2 for the INLAND EMPIRE AND SURROUNDING AREAS. Our fun theme is ... “FRIENDSGIVING”! We’ll be swapping gently used purses, coats, shoes, or accessories. No money involved, just a little decluttering, laughter, and sharing from the heart. In these uncertain times, we all can benefit from a SAFE space to exhale, to feed our minds, spirits, and souls with sisterhood, good food, and real conversation.
